Povlja

Povlja is placed in a deep and natural bay on the eastern part of the island of Brač, which is suitable for ships because of it's location - it is protected from winds and so we can say that the it is calm harbor.

Povlja

Povlja has about 300 residents, whose number is increasing in summer.

In Povlja there are old Antic walls and early Christian basilica from 5.-6. century with octagonal baptistery, which is the oldest preserved in Croatia. Also there is Povlja's letter, which is the oldest letter written in Croatian language with Cyrillic alphabet.
That is what u can see from the historical sights in Povlja.
The most developed activity here is agriculture, viticulture, olive growing, fishing and tourism. Adjacent bays are suitable for swimming and enjoying the sea and the peace of untouched nature.
